Amigos For Kids has been working to prevent child abuse and neglect for 30 years through programs that help families thrive. Financial struggles erode the protective factors that prevent child abuse, so we are deeply committed to helping families with concrete support during times of need. Even small actions such as providing a backpack, school supplies, and uniforms can make all the difference to a struggling family and help pave a path to a successful future for a child in need.

For three decades, Amigos For Kids has sent thousands of needy children back to school with the tools they need to succeed in the classroom. Through The Blue Backpack Project, we reach families in the most under-resourced communities of Miami-Dade County by partnering with schools, community organizations, and government agencies. The Blue Backpack Project is one of the longest-running free school supply initiatives in our community and dramatically reduces the financial burden on parents, as well as teachers, who often reach into their own pockets to pay for school supplies for their students.

Funds raised through The Blue Backpack Project also help support our free after-school program. After school programs, while in some cases affordable, are not within the financial reach of the families we serve those who are at or below the federal poverty level, circumstances that erode protective factors and can ignite the life stressors that lead to abuse and neglect.
