The non-profit organization is known for its dedicated role in preventing child abuse and neglect. Every year, Amigos for Kids holds an annual toy drive before Christmas to fulfill the Christmas wishes of thousands of underprivileged children from low-income communities in South Florida.
Karina Pavone, the President and CEO of Amigos for Kids, thanked the generosity of countless community members who helped the NGO spread holiday cheer among children in need.
What’s the Amigos for Kids toy drive about?
With the help of donors, volunteers, and sponsors, the staff at Amigos lessens the financial burden parents face during the holidays by ensuring their children receive toys they otherwise could not afford.
According to Maggie Fresen Zulueta, one of the board directors at Amigos for Kids and the VP of Academica, this toy drive is responsible for spreading the joy of holidays among kids in the community who otherwise would’ve felt left out. Through the initiative by Amigos for Kids, every participating child’s gift wish comes true.
Maggie went on to thank the support, generosity, and hard work of their patrons and volunteers. She especially thanked Amazon, The Brunetti Foundation, South/Vista Motors, The Gloria Estefan Foundation,Commissioner Eileen Higgins, Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz, Commissioner RebecaSosa, Origis Energy, PNC Bank, El Dorado Furniture, Doral Automotive Group,Beatriz Parker, Florida Blue, MD Ageless Solutions, Commissioner Keon Hardemon, and Sedano’s Supermarkets.
What will happen at the toy drive?
Children who have pre-registered will be accompanied by their parents or guardians. They will be able to pick the toys they want and participate in a day full of fun and exciting activities at Jose Marti Park.
The children will be greeted by Santa Claus and his elves and will also get to enjoy Christmas treats.
All the toys will be hand-given to the children by the board members, staff, and volunteers at Amigos for Kids.
