Amigos For Kids spreads Holiday Cheer with its 30th Annual Toy Drive benefiting thousands of underprivileged children In South Florida
Amigos For Kids, a Miami-based nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect by valuing children, strengthening families, and educating communities, will once again share the spirit of joy, good cheer and giving with its Annual Holiday Toy Drive. Now in its 30th year, the Toy Drive, which was Amigos For Kids’ first major event, has grown into a gift-giving program that fulfills thousands of holiday wishes for underprivileged children throughout South Florida.
“I am so deeply grateful for the kindness of the good people in our community who join us in solidarity to support of our vital work with families and who come together every year to help us bring smiles to children in need during the holidays,” said Karina Pavone, executive director of Amigos For Kids.
With the help of valued corporate sponsors, committed donors and countless volunteers, Amigos For Kids is able to ease the financial burden that many parents face at this time of year by giving them the peace of mind that their child will receive gifts they otherwise may not. Supporters will come together for a kickoff event to get things started on November 30, 2021 at Pinecrest Gardens.
“Working with Amigos For Kids is truly one of my life’s greatest joys,” said Jonathan Chariff, CEO of South Motors. “I am very proud of what we have been able to accomplish together and am thrilled to help this fantastic organization celebrate the 30th year of this toy drive. After all, nothing compares to the act of putting a smile on a child’s face.”
The children, accompanied by their parents or caregivers, will have the opportunity to pick up their toys and bags of food at Jose Marti Park on Saturday, December 11. They will be greeted by Santa and his elves and will enjoy holiday treats.
“Over the past 30 years, the Amigos For Kids Toy Drive has granted the specific holiday wishes of tens of thousands of under-resourced children. We take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to the South Florida community, including our generous donors, volunteers and sponsors, for their support in making this all possible,” said Jorge A. Plasencia, co-founder and chairman emeritus, Amigos For Kids.
Toys will also be hand-delivered to the children by Amigos For Kids staff, board members, and volunteers at partner organizations throughout the community.
"The Amigos for Kids Toy Drive brings holiday cheer to thousands of children in our community. What makes it special is that we ensure that each participating child’s holiday wish comes true. By bringing joy and happiness to the neediest in our community, this event furthers Amigos' mission to prevent child abuse," said Maggie Fresen Zulueta, board chair for Amigos for Kids. "We are especially grateful for the support and generosity of our sponsors and the hard work of our volunteers. We look forward to working with them in ensuring another successful Toy Drive this year.”
